If I click on the “Start” button and move the mouse pointer on an application such as “Word ” or “Excel ” , a list of recently opened documents opens on the right. If I right-click on one of the documents, the “Context Menu” appears. Some of the documents have an “Open file location” option in the “Context Menu” and some do not.

Today I uninstalled and reinstalled Office to fix another problem and all the Word and Excel recent files on the Start Menu were lost. None of the new ones that get created have the “Open file location” option.

If I create a custom toolbar and add shortcuts to it, all of them have an “Open file location” option in the “Context Menu”. How can I change the default behavior so all recent menu shortcuts will have an “Open file location” option in the “Context Menu”? Does the issue persists only with Office applications? What about the other applications? If the issue persist with all other applications then it may the issue with operating system. Reply with necessary information for further assistance.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. What I was referring to is the “Jump Lists” where the “Open file location” option is missing. If I go to the general “Recent Items” list, the “Open file location” option is in the “Context Menu” for every file shortcut there. I want to know how to add that option to the “Jump List” file shortcuts. I know its possible because some of them used to have it.

None of the “Jump Lists” for any application now have the “Open file location” option in the “Context Menu”. This issue has been going on for months. I do not know when I first noticed it. First most items had the option, then only a few had it and now none have it.

I kindly request you to provide a screenshot of the window to verify the version and assist you better. I look forward to your reply to assist you further. Thank you. I think you meant the “About” window not the “Outlook” window. Here is the “About” window in Word:. Please note that I do not see the “Open file location” option in the “Jump Lists” shortcuts for any applications not just Office applications.

I know for sure the the Word and Excel items used to have it but the other applications may never have had it I never looked before so I don’t know. I only know that none have them now. If you start the component, then you will have a list of Recent Date order and an ‘open other Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another.

That is not my problem and that is not a “Jump” list, that is a “Recent” list. I see the “Open file location” option in the “Recent” list but I do not see it for the “Jump” lists for each application. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
