Loading the default BIOS values didnt help either. So far I did numerous things trying to fix this as suggested in other threads.

It didn’t help. Despite this, I am able to install windows updates. I just have to wait until it finished the partial process and then reboot.

My PC works flawlessy otherwise. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback.

It’s really a mystery. I am open for experimental advices. If this isn’t resolvable, I have another question: Is the ‘Refresh Windows 10’ tool qualitatively the same as doing a fresh install via media creation tool? First time within the installation interface, I deleted all partitions as mentioned and cleaned the disk using some commands.

After refreshing it gave me 0x and now after rebooting it says select proper booting device. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Unfortunately, it did not help. Thank you for your input regardless! Make sure during the booted install to follow the illustrated steps to delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest, then click Next to let it auto-create the needed partitions, format them and begin install – this makes it foolproof. Then at the drive selection screen highlight the newly Unallocated Space and click Next to let it create needed partitions and start install – this makes it foolproof.

You will get and keep the best possible install to the exact extent you stick with the steps, tools and methods in the linked tutorial. It’s a better install than any amount of money could buy. It will not autostart on its own. Then choose the UEFI flash stick. Let it load just as you did before, then at second screen choose Install Now, then Custom Install, then at the drive selection screen click on the Unallocated Space and then click Next. What happens? I did all of that! But it still says insert proper boot device. I should not have done the additional steps of deleting partitions. On my second computer, the USB drive now shows very unusual behaviour and I cannot reformat it as windows says it is unable to reformat.

Well I get a new stick and then eventually a new install of windows will see the light. OK, then we need to go through the checklist to find out what’s causing the problem. There is no need to panic.
